The 2014 Rosemount Open was a tremendous success with new records and larger than ever participation. 88 lifters from seven teams competed on two platforms. While the large number of state qualifying athletes, over half made the top three minimum qualifying standard, is a testament to the quality of the lifting, Armstrong had an outstanding showing! Three athletes set six state records. Michaela McIntosh set the JV-53kg clean & jerk record at 64kg, Destiny Young set new V-48kg record in the snatch, clean and jerk, and the total, and Nathan Oelke blew everyone away with a 130kg clean and jerk record in the V-69kg class. He also set the total record at 225kg. If this meet was an indication of what Team Minnesota is capable of then the rest country better tighten up their belts and use extra chalk at the upcoming Junior National Championships!
