Eleven State Records Set At Opening Meets 1


The first meets of the 2014-2015 weightlifting season were held on Saturday, December 13th.  By the end of the day, eleven new state records had been broken.  The Southern Minnesota High School Open was held at Cannon Falls High School. There were 110 lifters, with some great performances. One of the highlights of the day was Connor Rousemiller going 125, 144, 264 for an automatic qualifier for the national Junior Championships in Ok City. The state record JV 69+ women’s snatch record was also broken with Alayna Theisson of Lake Crystal doing 67 kg. Many thanks to all lifters, coaches and spectators. It was a great day of lifting.  Here are the five new state record that were set:

  • Alayna Theissen, Crystal Lake, JV Girls 69+:  Snatch – 67
  • Eric Rousemiller, Lakeville South, JV Boys 94+:  Clean and Jerk 135, Total – 240
  • Connor Rousemiller, Lakeville South, V Boys:  105 – Snatch – 120 Kg, Total – 264

At the North Metro High School Open, held at Armstrong High School, there were 79 total lifters.  Six new state records were established at this meet:

  • David Hausmann, Rosemount, JV Boys 56:  Snatch – 66, Clean & Jerk – 88, Total – 156
  • William Staska, McGregor, JV Boys 94:  Clean and Jerk – 131 Kg, Total – 229
  • Nate Oelke, Armstrong, V Boys 77:  Clean and Jerk – 141

Beyond the eight new state records, there were countless new school records that were set.  There were some impressive performances, and it was a great start to the new season.  It will certainly be an exciting season of weightlifting this year!
